The process of Fogging has gained widespread recognition since the onset of Covid-19 and rightfully so.
Fogging is an ultra-fine airborne mist made up of non-toxic chemicals and certified to
BS EN 13697:A1:2019 and is highly effective in combating viruses while also being one of the most environmentally friendly spraying processes.
It is important to deploy fogging process in the right environment. Targeting specific areas of a building i.e. areas that can be enclosed such as reception areas, changing rooms, areas that are heavy traffic, kitchens, washrooms, these can be sanitised without problem but vast areas or non-enclosable areas are not suitable for this treatment and would be a wasteful exercise.
Areas that are high footfall such as waiting rooms in GP surgeries, dental practices, and care homes where the risk of infection is high are prime candidates for this fogging. Additionally soft furnishings in areas e.g. carpets, curtains, blinds, all these pose no problem with the fogging mist sprayed around so there really isn’t an area that will not respond positively to fogging.
Another plus is being a dry mist solution it has no effect on electrical equipment, so office areas and IT environments are safe. There will always be spaces that are more prone to a mix of people traffic for example, meeting rooms or board rooms, receptions areas and, often forgotten storage areas where different groups of people have access.
It is important to acknowledge that while fogging alone is impactful, it will not be as effective as when touchpoint cleaning is carried out immediately beforehand, indeed this two pronged approach is advised to get the assurance that comprehensive sanitisation and offers peace of mind. Implementing a regular fogging program will ensure lasting protection and a healthy environment for your essential employees that are working through this period.
In this current climate of high Covid-19 infections, it is important to keep on top of routine cleaning paying specific attention particularly in key areas and together with the extra protection of new technology augmenting cleaning practices contribute significantly to infection control efforts.
